Whale sharks, whose presence here has been scientifically documented by the Madagascar Whale Shark Project, supported by the Marine Megafauna Foundation. Researchers have shown that these gentle giants regularly visit the waters of Nosy Be between September and December, with a peak around October and November. While all individuals identified in the area are juveniles, their size—already several meters long from a young age—makes for a deeply moving encounter.
